Roy Nash

President & Chief Executive Officer

Roy Nash has over 45 years of experience in the housing and building industry. He has served as executive director for chambers of commerce in two Texas cities and executive director of the Temple (TX) Area Builders Association before taking the President/CEO position for NeighborWorks Waco, a non-profit housing organization. In his 20 years in his current position, he has seen exciting growth in the organization in the areas of home building, homeownership promotion and mortgage and consumer lending.

He currently serves on the Internal Affairs Committee and the Lending Committee for the National NeighborWorks® Association, an organization designed to support the work of NeighborWorks America (NWA). NWA is an organization that creates opportunities for people to live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities. He is the founding chair of the NeighborWorks® Alliance of Texas, a collaboration of Texas NeighborWorks® organizations. Nash is the current chair of the Waco Housing Coalition, and he also serves on the boards of the Heart of Texas Builders Association, the Texas Association of Builders and Heart of Texas Workforce Solutions. He has also recently been elected to serve on the board for Lakeview Loan Serving, LLC, a national organization that purchases 100% of the mortgage loans of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC).

Nash graduated from Baylor University where he received a BBA degree in Business Management. In his spare time, he enjoys family activities with his wife, two daughters, and their six grandchildren.

DBurnell-Smith

Delisa Burnell-Smith

Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Delisa Burnell-Smith serves as Vice President & COO of NeighborWorks® Waco. She is certified by NeighborWorks® Full-Cycle Lending in three categories: homebuyer education, mortgage lending and loan portfolio management. Since joining the organization in 1994, Burnell-Smith has counselled thousands of families. Burnell-Smith has served on non-profit organization boards of the East Waco Development Corporation, Waco Family Abuse Center, Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, Centex African American Chamber of Commerce, City of Waco Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission. She currently serves on the boards and commissions of the City of Waco Building and Standards Commission and Cameron Park Zoological and Botanical Society, Inc.

Delisa, a native Wacoan, earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas. In her spare time, Delisa enjoys traveling and considers herself a food connoisseur.

Karen Saucedo

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Karen is responsible for managing the organizations grants and assets, and working with our accountants to keep the organization on budget. She works closely with local and national lending sources to generate the funds needed to continue serving Central Texas families. Karen has also been designing homes for NeighborWorks® families since 2001. Whether it is speculative or custom, Karen can create beautiful affordable homes for our families.

When Karen is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and quilting with her mom.

Laura Arocha

Registered Mortgage Loan Originator

Laura Arocha joined the NeighborWorks Waco team in May 2021 and serves as a Loan Processor. She brings with her over 30 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry as well as loan portfolio management and consumer lending. In addition, she has obtained many certificates in financial lending. Laura is a native Wacoan who enjoys helping families through her volunteerism with Results Advocate Program.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family—especially her husband, two daughters, one son, and seven grandchildren. Laura’s mother, Opal, is her best friend and lives right next door to her. You can bet that if you see Laura on a Saturday, her best friend, Opal, will be by her side!

Kris Morgan

Construction Manager

In the Fall of 2021 Kris Morgan joined our team, bringing 15 years of experience maintaining properties. He serves as our Maintenance Manager, overseeing all aspects of our rental homes including paint, plumbing, electrical, inspections, and more. He has extensive experience with electrical repair and property maintenance, which equips him well to assist our clients in moments of need. His professionalism and friendliness have made him a welcome sight to the families we serve.

Kris enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons in his free time. He spends a lot of that time cheering on his boys at their various sporting events, tinkering in his shop, tending his veggie garden, and simply being outdoors.

John Olvera, Jr.

Maintenance Specialist

John Olvera, Jr, was raised as a Wacoan, but now resides in Robinson, Texas, along with his beautiful wife Erica and his two dogs. He has over 20 years of experience in the construction trade industry with a joy for woodworking, especially building cabinets. During his downtime, he’s purchasing older model pickup trucks, rebuilding them, and enjoying them for a few moments, until it’s time for them to part ways. John also enjoys visiting wineries throughout Texas with his wife and spending time with his family. He’s a two-time cancer survivor, and he gives all his praises and glory to the Lord for allowing him the breath of life. John is excited about his role at NeighborWorks Waco and the impact it has on families being served by the agency.

V. Latimer

Homeownership Planner

As the Homeownership Planner of NeighborWorks Waco, Ms. V--as she prefers to be called--is responsible for counseling with families to help them achieve their dreams of becoming financially stable and reaching homeownership. Ms. V is delighted to be part of the NeighborWorks Waco team because she is passionate about making a difference in the community by educating and empowering families to achieve their financial goals.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Ms. V has lived in Waco for years and loves our town and the community. After a long run with one of Waco’s oldest logistical trucking companies, she has chosen to bring her skills and experience to helping families navigate the logistics of financial strategy.

When Ms. V is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, cheering on her grandkids' games, and watching documentaries, especially true crime!

Rose Corujo

Office Manager

In May 2022 Rose Corujo joined NeighborWorks Waco as the Office Manager. Her more than 42 years of office experience in the education and insurance sectors has given her vast experience necessary for this opportunity. As the Office Manager, she enjoys building relationships with potential homeowners, answering questions, and directing clients to appropriate departments.

Though Rose was raised in Waco, she chose to raise her 4 children in Austin, TX, where she spent the majority of her adult life. She worked for a major publishing company for 15 years, moving up through the ranks in an administrative capacity. Recently, Rose settled back in Waco to care for her father. After years spent looking for her niche and working in the insurance industry, she chose to settle at NeighborWorks. She has 6 grandchildren and 6 grand-dogs that she enjoys spending as much time as possible with. In her spare time, her passion is volunteering in the children’s ministry at her church, as well as crocheting.
