It’s been brought to our attention that McLennan County Appraisal District (MCAD) is requiring ALL homeowner’s to re-file their exemption(s) on their property every five years. MCAD will officially notify homeowners by mail, along with an application when it’s their turn to re-file. It’s important to complete and return the application prior to the deadline indicated in the letter to maintain exemption(s). There is no need to re-file, until you are notified.

As you know, being a homeowner has advantages and one is reduced property taxes, which helps mortgage payments to remain affordable. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the property exemption(s), not the servicer or maker of your mortgage. To check your exemptions status or see if you may qualify for an exemption on your property, please visit the MCAD website at www.mclennancad.org and select property search and enter your last name and then your first name without any punctuation, for example: doe john.

If you should have any questions once you received your application, please don’t hesitate to call our office and ask for Delisa Burnell-Smith, Karen Saucedo or myself. You are also welcome to call a MCAD representative for assistance at 254.752.986
