Chair’s Message

Jose R. Villanueva, Board Chair

NeighborWorks Waco builds community. Not only do we help people acquire safe and affordable housing, but we also help our neighbors in other ways. This newsletter highlights some of our community-building activities.

NeighborWorks Waco, just like Waco, is experiencing changes and growth which require new approaches to management and governance. We are always looking to engage new partners and the community at large to help us steer the ship and consider different options for delivering better assistance to our service areas. We expect to consider changes to staff size and concentration and perhaps changing programs or taking on new ones after our Board Retreat in July. Implementing any changes may take course over the next fiscal year.

In the meantime we will be busy finishing construction of our single family housing projects in East Waco and Legacy Square. We also expect to begin construction of our multi-family housing project (54-unit Belmont Village) with our for-profit partners. The drive to raise our Endowment Fund will continue for several years.

Growth and change are coming. Here’s to our future success.
