Home is now more important than ever.
With so many of us staying safe at home, we are all confronted with our feelings about home. For some, home means stability, safety, and security. For others, home can be a place of stress. Many families are concerned about affording rent, dealing with unhappy landlords, or even eviction.
NeighborWorks Waco strives to help families achieve their dream of homeownership with myriad programs and services aimed to help families purchase a home, we know the importance of having a safe, stable and secure place to quarantine in these stressful times.
We are fortunate to partner with other members of this community who share our values. BBVA Compass and Wells Fargo both acted swiftly in the midst of the Corona virus pandemic. Each offered NeighborWorks Waco grant funds which will be used to help Central Texas families afford home.
We are proud to provide the following brief insight into these critical partnerships:
1) What is it about NeighborWorks Waco that Wells Fargo choses to partner with us?
Wells Fargo: The Wells Fargo Foundation works to pave a path to stability and financial success for individuals, families and underserved communities by applying a problem-solving mindset and concentrating philanthropic resources and business expertise on three critical issues: housing affordability, financial health and small business growth. We are proud to partner with NeighborWorks Waco in our shared goal of building a stronger community by increasing access to safe, affordable housing, as well as increasing access to critical financial education resources such as homebuyer education, credit counseling and money management workshops.
2) In what ways can you serve struggling families at this time?
Wells Fargo: The Wells Fargo Foundation has committed $175 million in donations to help communities across the country address food, shelter, small business and housing stability, as well as to provide help to public health organizations.
Wells Fargo is also working on a daily basis to put measures in place to support the needs of customers impacted by COVID-19 in the most effective ways possible. Wells Fargo is suspending residential property foreclosure sales, evictions and involuntary automobile repossessions. The company also is offering fee waivers, payment deferrals and other expanded assistance for credit card, auto, mortgage, small business and personal lending customers who contact the company.
3) What would you like the community to know about Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo: As more customers have found themselves homebound the past few weeks, we’ve made several improvements to our digital services to make banking more convenient — like increasing mobile deposit limits and ensuring the branch locator has the most up-to-date information on branch closures and business hours. For many of your banking needs, the fastest way is online or through the Wells Fargo Mobile® app.
ATTN: BBVA Compass also provided NeighborWorks Waco with a grant that functions to ease the challenges of COVID 19, but was unable to provide comment on these questions.
