Community

Through NeighborWorks® Week, Art on Elm Avenue, the Painting Pastor’s Challenge, and other outreach projects, the organization seeks to create outlets to mobilize volunteers, beautify neighborhoods, unite communities, and celebrate resident involvement.

Through its national network partnership, NeighborWorks® Waco also provides best-of practices and training to emerging and established leaders who are working in our local community. These activities challenge leaders to implement concrete plans for positive change, and NeighborWorks® Waco continues to support these leaders as projects progress.

Art on Elm Avenue

Art on Elm Avenue is a pop-up art exhibition and event featuring local fine art, music, food, and more!

Started in April 2010, Art on Elm Avenue began as an effort from NeighborWorks® Waco to help aid in developing our city’s urban areas and to celebrate the rich artistic culture thriving here in Waco.

Art on Elm Avenue has grown from a small community event to one of the most anticipated events of the Spring in Waco!

NeighborWorks® Week

Looking for a way to get involved in your community and do something that truly matters? NeighborWorks® Week is a week dedicated to helping local residents with things such as painting, landscaping, repairing homes, and much more using local volunteers, neighbors, friends, and businesspeople. The Week is celebrated across the country with other NeighborWorks® Organizations.

Pastors’ Paint Challenge

A long time favorite, Pastors’ Paint Challenge challenges local pastors and churches to roll up their sleeves and
compete in a little friendly competition!

Pastors’ gather a group of volunteers to form their team and are assigned different sections of a home to paint. The painting battle ensues and awards are given for categories like “Most Volunteers”, “Best Paint All Around” and “Most Passionate”. Fun festivities follow after a hard days work for volunteers to enjoy.

Project ASPIRE

Project ASPIRE is NeighborWorks® Waco’s youth financial literacy program. The program works with a variety of
partners throughout Waco ISD including West Avenue Elementary, Brook Avenue Elementary, Carver Middle School, and Indian Spring Middle School. Thanks to these partnerships, and the continual handwork of our volunteers, Project ASPIRE has touched the lives of many students, and is set to reach even more!

By educating Waco’s youth on basic economic practices, Project ASPIRE ensures that students have the financial skills and capability to secure their own bright futures, promoting sustainability and self-sufficiency throughout Waco.
