NeighborWorks Waco’s board member, George Springer is passionate about seeing Waco families get into safe, stable and affordable housing. He has dedicated a lot of his time and energy to the leadership of NeighborWorks Waco. He has been instrumental in our organizational push toward 100% sustainability.
As of summer 2019, NeighborWorks Waco is approximately 70% financially sustainable. We have strived to create programs that propel us nearer to our goal of being fully sustainable. With Mr. Springer’s support, we have started an endowment fund! At the beginning of 2019, our effort to catalyze this movement had yielded $34,463 for an endowment fund. As of August 2019, our endowment has reached $85,317 thanks to the support of many NeighborWorks Waco stakeholders and Waco community members. This 147% growth is a stupendous example of the effort our team puts forth to continue raising the homeownership rate in the Greater Central Texas area and helping families realize their dreams of affordable, safe, secure homeownership.
Mr. Springer had this to say, “Our Endowment fund, managed by Waco Foundation, provides a stable financial base to sustain our important programs that benefit our community as Federal Grant funds availability continues to be more difficult to access”.
