NeighborWorks Waco is experiencing an outstanding year in construction. Our Belmont Village is progressing nicely, and we have been busy building several homes on various lots throughout the community. In fact, we have begun to encounter an obstacle that we are proud to face: we are running out of lots!
Having diligently sought to increase affordable, safe, sustainable, and stable housing stock in our area, we have depleted our reserve of un-developed lots. Rising land prices, particularly in some of our target neighborhoods, has made acquisition more challenging.
We are looking for lots that owners might be willing to sell or donate to our organization so that we may continue increasing the opportunities for local families to enter into homeownership. Please be on the lookout for land that we might be able to acquire and develop to reach the vision of the organization. Without lots, it becomes increasingly difficult to build stronger neighborhoods through homeownership, quality rental housing and community-building initiatives, as is our mission.
