Maekayla Cayley–happy first time home buyer

Virtually everyone is aware of the economic challenges facing homebuyers in this current market. Historically low rates have begun to creep higher and higher at the same time that demand for housing is drastically outpacing available housing stock and new construction. When supply is low and demand is high, prices rise significantly. The housing market is no exception.

Despite all these challenging circumstances, NeighborWorks Waco just recently reported one of our strongest quarters. Because of generous parentships, helpful subsidies, and dedicated staff, we were able to help 19 individuals and families achieve their dream of homeownership in the previous quarter!

To put this quarter’s results in context, our annual goal is to create a minimum of 40 homebuyers each year, though we usually surpass that goal. In nearly three decades of service to the greater Waco area, NeighborWorks Waco has helped to create more than 3200 first time homebuyers. That is why we are proudly celebrating with the 19 families who have secured safe and stable housing during the previous quarter! Our total number of first-time homebuyers for this fiscal year currently sits at 34—and counting.

We are on track to go beyond our goal of 40 (minimum) homebuyers for this year. More importantly, we are honored to have been a part of these families’ journey to homeownership, and we are excited to see their happiness, health, and wealth grow over time in their home.
