NeighborWorks: Esther, tell me a little about your background and Education.
Trejo: I was born in Fort Worth but raised in Waco, so I consider myself a Wacoan. I graduated from University High School and have a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a Masters from Tarleton State. My husband Arturo and I have been married for 19 years and have two children ages 6 and 10. Our family enjoys attending church at FaithWalk Fellowship in Robinson, Texas and spending time with family.
NeighborWorks: What kind of Insurance do you sell?
Trejo: I sell all insurance policies including Homeowners, Auto, Life, Health, Commercial, Mexico and Renter’s insurance. Today we will be discussing Homeowner policies.
NeighborWorks: What is Homeowners Insurance?
Trejo: Homeowners Insurance is a policy that is in place in case there is a fire or another type of loss that prevents a homeowner from living in their home safely.
NeighborWorks: What does Homeowners insurance protect?
Homeowners policies protect:
- Detached structures, for example a storage building that is not attached to your home
- Contents or your personal property, for example furniture.
- Additional Living Expense, this is the cost of expenses the are incurred because of the loss of use of your home.
NeighborWorks: What is the difference between Replacement Cost and Actual Cash Value?
Trejo: The difference comes down to how much your insurance will refund you in the event of a loss of your home.
Actual Cash Value (ACV) also known as market value- is the amount refunded to the homeowner to replace their home or property minus depreciation.
Replacement Cost- the amount refunded to the homeowner to replace thier damaged property with property that is comparable to the property that was lost.
NeighborWorks: What does the personal liability protection cover?
Trejo: In a Homeowners policy, you can choose the amount the liability coverage you need. The liability portion covers you against lawsuits for injury or damage that you or your family members cause to other people.
NeighborWorks: What are the options for paying your Homeowners policy?
Trejo: Typically, your homeowners insurance policy is included in your house payment.
NeighborWorks: How would a client get a quote or ask questions about homeowners’ insurance?
Trejo: Clients can contact me directly with questions and quote requests. I can give multiple quotes for clients who are shopping for their home.
