Temple, TX – January 29, 2018 – Things are up and running in Temple! This past winter, NeighborWorks Homeownership Center (NHC) has counseled, educated, and assisted several families in the first steps of becoming homeowners, as well as assisting one family into their very own, brand-new home throughout the Central Texas area!

It was truly a team effort that ushered the Lattuada’s into their new home. The family worked hard – putting in their sweat equity with Habitat for Humanity, attending NHC’s Homebuyer Education Workshop, and even presenting in a City of Temple Homebuying Fair – to prepare for their new home!

Thanks to the partnership of a variety of organizations, this very deserving family was able to move in time to celebrate Christmas in their new home! Cinthia Hernandez, a lender with Extraco Banks, summed up the value and importance of partnerships perfectly by stating, “It definitely takes a village to make homeownership more affordable. Extraco Banks, Fort Hood Habitat for Humanity, NeighborWorks, and United Way of Central Texas were able to help the Lattuada family buy a brand new home with only $500! These partnerships are what help deserving families achieve the American dream of homeownership.”

NHC values each and every one of the partnerships that are formed, knowing they are the reason for continued success! Roy Nash, President and CEO of NeighborWorks Waco, remarks, “It has been our pleasure to partner with other organizations in Temple to make homeownership opportunities available for low and moderate income families.” Each organization that we partner with plays a key part in keeping the cost of homeownership as attainable as possible- from United Way’s SOAR program, Extraco Banks’ Solutions Loan program, to our City of Temple Down Payment Assistance. These organizations bring the goal of homeownership closer for many families!

When asked about the teamwork that came into play with the purchase of her new home, Ms. Lattuada adds, “It was awesome to see a true sense of community come to life before my very eyes. The City of Temple, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, NeighborWorks, PatCo construction, Crossroads Church, and Extraco Banks all came together to make our dream of owning a home a reality. We have been in our home for a month now, and it’s so wonderful to come to a place that is truly ours. God has blessed us beyond measure!” NHC is absolutely thrilled with the success of the Lattuada family has achieved with their beautiful new home and wants to thank each and every partner that helped along the way!

NHC looks forward to continuing to partner with deserving families and the City of Temple to offer down payment assistance and education to Temple residents!
