Enduring the global COVID-19 pandemic has forced many of us into new ways of conducting business. Webinars and virtual meetings have all but replaced in-person gatherings and conference calls. There are odd moments when watching a movie where I struggle to recognize what looks so strange about the people, only to realize that they’re not wearing masks. People and businesses had to adapt, and NeighborWorks Waco is no different.

For years, our in-person Homebuyer Education Workshop (HBE) saw 30+ people in attendance on any given Saturday. Industry leaders would visit our offices and provide an overview of each step in the Home-buying process. Attendants received in depth learning from talented locals in the real estate market. Of course, out of an abundance of caution and with your safety as our number one priority, NeighborWorks Waco has been unable to host our regular HBE sessions.

Our same incredibly helpful and informative content is now available from the convenience of your home! We have created a virtual class, available here on our website. When you sign up for this class, you will receive a recording of our HBE workshop which can be done at your own pace. When you’re finished, simply submit the follow-up quiz to our Homeownership Planner, who checks the quiz and sends you a signed certificate of completion! This option has become very popular, as it allows for more flexibility. Now, participants aren’t required to give up an entire Saturday to get this valuable information, but can take as long as they like. It can be done in pajamas from the couch, in the evenings, or before the kids wake up!

Our virtual HBE is an outstanding alternative, and our staff are working hard to constantly improve it and all our offerings, we do expect to soon be opening back up to in-person meetings. For those who feel comfortable, we believe our regular HBE classes will be returning within the next months, pending agreement from the industry professionals who graciously volunteer to teach these sessions.
